Today, finally the wet exercises. The wind was N4bft and Tiny accompanied me for filming my activities.
High brace: easy
Rolling: The SI18 can be rolled well. Although I would like to mention that there are easier boats to roll. Just perform your roll concentrated and according the rules of rolling and she rolls well.
Sculling: You have to lift yourself quit a lot out of the seat to be able to scull. But it can be done. Probably the high backrest hinders a bit. A point of attention is keeping your knees under the knee-grips because of the big cockpit and because you have to lift yourself a bit you must be careful not to loose grip.
Re-entry: getting out of the big cockpit is no problem. Getting in from aside is easy and for rolling up I have the same experience as with rolling empty. I can add that the stability of the SI18 with waterlogged cockpit is a bit less than in empty state.
X-rescue: Thanks to the bulkhead behind the seat it is enough to lift the bow for emptying the cockpit. Only something like 1 litre of water remains after emptying. Rescuer and rescued have enough grip on the kayak by the perimeter lines around the deck. Entering the cockpit is also easy, not being hindered by the back-band in the seat.
